Los Angeles Kings Jersey History

, For their first season opener Jerseys Lakers game in October 1967, the Los Angeles Kings donned simple hockey jerseys with a purple and gold color scheme. The color scheme, which represented royalty, went very well with the teams crown logo and was made to coincide with the jerseys of the Los Angeles Lakers. The Kings jerseys had gold jerseys for home games and purple jerseys for away games with alternating stripes on the Jerseys Lakers sleeves and around the lower torso. The crown logo was displayed in the center of the jersey and was outlined in both purple and gold.

In 1980, the Kings jersey introduced a new design. White contrasting stripes were added to the sleeves and the torso line to make the jerseys stand out more. The colors for the home and away jerseys stayed the same but the horizontal stripes on the sleeves were changed to wide vertical stripes. The crown logo also stayed the same and continued to be worn on the front of the jersey.

In 1988 the purple and gold colors were retired and replaced with black and silver. This new color scheme directly coincided with the colors of Los Angeles\'s newest sports team, the Raiders. Their home and away game jerseys had the same design with alternating colors: black at home and white when away. The Kings\' logo was also changed to a more elaborate version. The new logo had the words \"Los Angeles Kings\" over a black and silver crown.

In 1998 the Kings retired their black and silver Los Angeles Kings jersey for a purple, black and silver color scheme. While the striping on the jersey was still similar to that of the black and silver jersey, they added contrasting shoulder colors and the words \"Los Angeles\" to Jerseys Lakers the bottom. The logo also went through very drastic changes. For a time, the logo that was used was a shield featuring a crown, a lion and a sun with two hockey sticks crossing in front. Though this became a widely recognized symbol for the Los Angeles Kings, in 1999 it was replaced with a simple and sleek crown.

In 2008, the Los Angeles Kings reintroduced their black and silver color scheme and revealed their new Reebok Edge jerseys designs. These jerseys were designed much like the original black and silver ones, but had thin silver stripes that ran from the neck down to the sleeve cuff. They also brought back the shield logo but used only the letters \"LA\" at the top and the sleek crown design below.
